Howdy everyone!
People have been asking for a way to keep track of new tunes that we play and I figured it may be helpful to have an updateable resource for jammers to reference and find info about new tunes (or old tunes refreshed). I'll try to post as much relevant info as I can about the choicest of tunes.
Here is a link to the Jam Tune list that I put together over the pandemic MASTER TUNE LIST
Here are a few of the freshest new tunes we've got for the jam coming Tuesday. Enjoy!
Moonlight
Key D
Fiddle: ADAE
Source: Bruce Greene (Kentucky) https://www.slippery-hill.com/content/moonlight
Notes: This is Bruce Green's take on a cross A tune of the same name by Kentucky fiddler Wallace Thompson. In the recording he plays the structure as AABCC and then again as AABBCC. We have taken to playing the tune with the AABBCC configuration.

Redican's Trip To Appalachia
Key A
Fiddle: AEAE
Source: Jason Cade (Contemporary)
Notes: From the liner notes of Hog-Eyed Man Old World Tunes of Southern Appalachia...
"This fun piece is Jason’s old time reworking of a tune composed by Irish-American fiddler Larry Redican (b. 1908). Tune-savant Don Meade told us Redican likely wrote it in New York in the 1960s but left it untitled. Now played by Irish musicians throughout the world, it’s often called The Galway Reel, or, less frequently, The Ironing Board (a name that we found fitting since Rob prefers to play his lap dulcimer on a vintage ironing board). Whatever the name, we think old time musicians around the world will love playing it too!" -Jason Cade

This tune can be very crooked in the A part and watch out for a surprise IV chord in the middle!
